A Beauty Line that Donates 100% of Their Proceeds to Ecuadorian Rainforests

Balanced Guru's SEVA AMAZON Body Care Products

Balanced Guru’s SEVA AMAZON Body Care Products

In today’s marketing age, you’d be hard pressed to find a company that truly donates a decent portion of it’s proceeds to charity. You’ll see 5%, 10%, and maybe even 15%, but when’s the last time you saw 100% of a product’s proceeds go to a cause? We haven’t. This week, we introduce you to Balanced Guru who has launched a special Giving Back Program, a customized limited edition program designed for non-profit organizations to sell and fund their causes.

Through the Balanced Guru SEVA AMAZON Line featuring a Rainforest Body Balm, Rainforest Body Oil, and Rainforest Body Scrub100% of the profits from these three products will go towards saving the Yasuni National Park in Ecuador, part of our Amazon rainforest. For this, the brand is partnering with Off The Mat Into The World ( through their SEVA AMAZON challenge to help save one of the most diverse and rich ecosystems in the world.
Products include:

Neal’s Yard Remedies: Eco-Friendly Christmas Gifts

Neal's Yard Covent Garden

Neal’s Yard Covent Garden

When I lived in dear old Blighty there were a few things that captured my heart;  the amazing department store/grocery, Selfridge’s, a little organic Mexican restaurant called Wachaca, Borough Market, a fabulous outdoor market where you can get some of the tastiest oysters around, and an almost hidden, vibrantly colored street with an organic shop called Neal’s Yard Remedies.

So, imagine my joy when a friend of mine, Suzanne Burke, started selling their products stateside! That’s right. Neal’s Yard Remedies, one of the first certified organic beauty producers around, is available in the US for you to order easily online. There’s really something for everyone; from lotions, face washes, moisturizers, and candles to organic make-up and aromatherapy treatments.

Just a few of my favorite things...

Just a few of my favorite things…

As their website explains, “The skin is the body’s largest organ… and it’s been well documented that what you put on your skin ends up in your body (just think of nicotine patches). Over the last 50 years, tens of thousands of new chemicals have been developed, most of which have never been properly tested on humans… Surely it can be no coincidence that over the same time period, the incidences of illness such as eczema, allergies and even cancers have greatly increased.”

So why risk it and why not smell and look amazing in the process by giving the gift of organic beauty this holiday season?

Here are some of my top picks:

Frankenscene Intense

Frankincense Intense

Frankincense Intense
This rich and intensely moisturizing cream is a clinically proven age-defence for all skin types. Powered by plant stem cells from Gardenia and a peptide complex, it has been shown to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, firm, tone, boost skin’s suppleness and instantly hydrate. It may seem thick for those with oily skin, but I have combination skin and, because the ingredients are so high quality, there were no clogged pores or break-outs. Simply amazing!

These are just a few of my favorite things, but their make-up line is also stellar and their aromatherapy treatments = divine. You can even create your own. Suzanne knows the line inside and out, so feel free to reach out to her for recommendations and to purchase here:

Inflight Travel Kit

The Organic Pharmacy In-flight Travel Kit

We first became familiar with The Organic Pharmacy when we were living in London and recently heard the news that you can now purchase their products here in the US. So, for the traveler who wants to keep their skin eco-fresh and free of toxins while traveling or on vacay, listen up!

Here are a few of travel ready products we think you should try out to get a taste of their goods:

The In-flight Kit

This is an essential kit for the frequent or long haul flyer, a mixture of homeopathic remedies, flower essences, and oils to soothe and support the body during flight. Wonderful Skin? Look No Further Than Organic Skincare Line: SeabuckWonders

Natural-Skin-Care-ProgramI’ll be honest. At one point in my adult life, my skin looked like Britney Spears’ skin after a fast food bender. I think it had something to do with wearing too much make-up and eating too many carbs. It took a few years (and my husband’s wise words) to figure out the simple fact that less is more. Once I stopped wearing all that cover-up to cover-up my skin, it healed and looked better than ever. I also decided then to switch to healthier beauty products. Now, I try out a slew of different products and this recent product right here was one of my favorites.
Light, natural, and full of Omegas,  SeabuckWonders, a source for personal care products made from the Himalayan sea buckthorn berry, is also known as the Dr. Oz ‘miracle berry’, because the robust superfruit is packed full of powerful antioxidants, vitamins, essential fatty acids and the entire family of Omegas (3, 6, 9 AND the rare Omega 7) to enhance daily health and beauty.
What’s more?
SeabuckWonders is offering the first and ONLY full line of products made with 100% USDA Certified Organic Himalayan Sea Buckthorn. Products contain the highest concentration of sea buckthorn and Omega-7 for better results and come in an assortment of body lotion, supplements, facial cleanser, seed and berry oils, hydrating serums and creams.
SeabuckWonders products are also made of sea buckthorn oils only from the Tibetan Plateau. This is where high altitude, strong ultraviolet radiation, severe cold, scorching heat, and dry and barren soil have equipped the remarkable sea buckthorn plant with an extraordinary bio-defense mechanism that breeds substantial life-giving nutrients for enhancing health and beauty.  The Tibetan local green environment makes their sea buckthorn oils amazingly pure, naturally boosting the content of essential fatty acids and Vitamin E over other varieties, and the supercritical fluid extraction process in one of the most advanced facilities makes their sea buckthorn oils the best in quality. The fact that their products are certified organic is also a win win!

Body Lotion (winner of Delicious Living Beauty & Body Awards 2013):  $14.97

Moroccan Oil Meet Orchid Oil…

Orchid Oil... this stuff smells DELICIOUS

Orchid Oil… this stuff smells DELICIOUS

Praised as better than Moroccan Oil by hairstylists and media alike, I was sent Orchids Oil to try and have to say… it’s one of the most delicious smelling hair products I’ve tried with results so shiny,  smooth, and sleek that this may become your next oil obsession too.

It’s also affordable and the product’s orchid extract aids in the restoration of strand longevity by returning moisture, shine, and softness to hair that has become damaged from chemical treatments, thermal stress and daily UV and UVB exposure. Orchid extract Bulbophyllum sp will mend split ends and fill holes in the fabric of each hair strand to instantly enhance hair health and heal damaged cuticle layers. So what are you waiting on? Try some super shiny serum from the plant that made O’Keefe famous and let us know what you think!

Looking like the Beach in Winter

Finally, someone thought of the perfect solution. The marriage of blush and bronzer! Thanks, Cargo. Our winter skin was wan and bland when four shades came sauntering in. Swept together, these create the perfect color for the skin, giving a flushed cheeks/sun-kissed glow. Just don’t you dare over do it. It’s easy because it’s so much fun, but one sweep each cheek will do. Otherwise, you’ll have to rub it all off. Its formula contains light reflective shimmer particles that highlight the skin and soften the appearance of fine lines, but what’s more… a light sweep and you’re looking fresh faced and healthy, Cali style.

Price: $30

Available in six shades (Cable Beach, Coral Beach, Echo Beach, Miami Beach, Sunset Beach and Tenerife). These are avail. via the link below or Duane Reade, and Cargo.
